Yeondoo Jung

http://www.yeondoojung.com/artworks_list.php
Yeondoo Jung was born in 1969 in Korea.  Studied in Seoul and London in sculpture and got an MFA at University of London, but lives and works in Seoul, Korea.

These photos are from the Locations series.  I was looking at Yeondoo Jung's work originally for the Wonderland series because dreams of children often have fairy tale like elements.  Although some of the Locations ones had a mysterious otherworld quality, and others looked as if they were small movie or theater sets which made it look like a fake world within the real world.

Todd Deutsch

http://todddeutsch.com/index.html

Todd was born in 1969. He received his MFA from Cranbrook  Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, MI. Todd has exhibited nationally and internationally. He is known for his photographs of his family, young sons and his images of boyhood toys/ games. His series 'Gamers' are images from a local area network party. The parties take place in empty store fronts and are set up for gamers to head to head battles. I chose this work because of the way in which he captures a side of the people that participate in the parties or that are really in to gaming

Niki Grangruth

Niki Grangruth is another artist whose work explores the relationship between mother and child. Her compositions are modeled after classical Madonna and Child paintings.  She received an MFA from Columbia College, and she currently lives and works out of Chicago.

I chose her, again, because of content as well as concept. Like Viktoria Sorochinski, she creates compelling images that deal with a complex subject matter. The work below is from her New Madonnas series, created in 2010.

John Pfahl

He grew up in New Jersey and is know for his land scape photography he got his BFA from Syracuse University in the school of art and his MFA from the same university in the school of communication and he has taught at several schools. He lives in New York today.
His photos hold a peaceful calming scene to them.

Matt Wisniewski

He was born in 1990 in Philadelphia. He currently lives in New York. Matt takes found images from blogs and collages them together to  make double exposures. He over lays portraits with found organic patterns. The inspiration for his work comes from his dreams. He makes the combinations to show the beauty of the human form and the beauty of nature. I chose this artist because of his series Mineral minds.I found that the works in this series were interesting. They make me wounder what specifically was the inspiration was for the series.

Diane Meyer

Artist Diane Meyer

http://www.dianemeyer.net/

Diane Meyer, is a grad from the university of California with a masters in Fine Art. All of her images are directly sewn upon to distort her childhood photographs. She spends time reflecting on past snapshots along with lush scenery; then distorts the pixels by sewing threads to look exactly like the image.
