Leonid Tishkov
Boris Bendikov
Leonid Tiskov, Russian native, was born in 1953. In 1979 he graduated from the
"Private moon", as described by Leonid, "is a visual poem
telling the story of a man who met the Moon and stayed with her forever". Not only
is this body of work a photographic series, it is also a mobile installation.
It features a large electric moon light and travels the world. Leonid Tishkov,
being feature as the man in love with the moon, employs the help of
photographer Boris Bendikov.
Boris Bendikov
is a Russian photographer. His portfolio contains everything from fine art to
fashion to commercial. Though he casts a wide net, it is very evident that
Boris has a firm grasp of any subject that falls within his lens.
The duo creates
a beautiful fantasy world that still feels very real and possible. The love
that the man has for the moon, jumps off the page. The care and concern given
to the photographs allow the moon to reciprocate the emotion as well. As you
begin to search through the body of work, you begin to feel the relationship
develop. There is one aspect of this work that I find very intriguing. There is
no linier time or structure given to the series of photos. The emotions of the
subjects and the course of the relationship is strongly dictated by where the
viewer starts their journey. I looked at this work for a few days. viewing it
on different websites and blogs. I saw a story where a man captures the moon
for himself on one page. On another, the story is of a man who comes across a
fallen moon and nurses it back to health. The beauty and depth of this project
can easily capture the imagination of any viewer and allow it to become what
ever they want.
