Katja is an artist that lives in Amsterdam. In an interview she talked about animals being a form of technology, she turned the images into almost sculpture. She talked about how animals are more complex then anything manmade. I couldn't find much on her, and her website is difficult to navigate.
I believe the animal photos she uses are images she found and then made large prints of to cut out and stand them up. I choose her because the animal cutouts are taken out of context without a background or even the animals whole body making them seem to be phasing through the floor and placed in the middle of a cleared space. I like the giraffe cutout because at first I thought it was an image of the giraffes heads edited into a room, and they really seemed to come through the floor.
